Position Description

Social Venture Partners International (SVPI) is the network association.  SVPI provides innovative tools, extensive resources, meaningful outcomes data, opportunities for engagement and learning – all with an eye to unleashing the philanthropic potential of individuals, communities, nonprofits and the broader philanthropic sector.  SVPI staff also champions new and established SVPs, supporting them to harness the power of the network and make the greatest possible impact in their community and around the world.

The Role
SVPI is seeking a Fund Development Director.  This is a new position and will be an integral part of the small SVPI team. He or she will contribute significantly to planning, strategy and operational goals of SVPI and will be responsible for the smooth operation and execution of SVPI’s fund development efforts.  The Fund Director will be responsible for raising $350,000 to $400,000, increasing in subsequent years.

Key Tasks:
The Fund Development Director will be responsible, with SVPI’s CEO and board, for the development and implementation of a comprehensive fund development strategy.  As part of this effort, he or she will:
• In alignment with SVPI’s Strategic Plan and annual work plan, set and meet annual goals for individual gifts, corporate sponsorship and foundation grants; track progress and produce reports for board members and staff team
• Plan and lead key major donor and prospect identification, stewardship, communication, cultivation, solicitation, and recognition 
• Build relationships with donors in support of SVPI’s strategic plan.
• Develop corporate and foundation cultivation strategies write grants and prepare sponsorship packages.
• Identify and cultivate new donors, with assistance from key staff and board members
• Maintain donor records
• Serve as lead staff member to SVPI’s board Fund Development Committee
• Attend BOD meetings and train and support SVPI board members and staff as appropriate
• Work with SVPI’s Director of Communications to increase visibility of SVPI with current and prospective donors
• Other duties as directed

Qualifications include:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Substantial experience in fund development – preferably 5+ years
• Experience in working with major donors – preferably 3+ years
• Proven success in developing and executing development strategies
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills including experience working with high profile boards and volunteers.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent project management and organizational skills
• Excellent relationship building skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team
• Experience with Salesforce or other donor databases.
•  Knowledge of Social Venture Partners a plus
• Ability to travel 3-5 times per year

Performance Indicators:
• Development and implementation of a comprehensive fund development strategy
• Success in meeting annual fund development goals

Compensation
Salary between $65,000 - $75,000, DOE. Benefits include a Simple IRA plan with 3% employer match, medical/dental insurance, and excellent vacation package.
