2012 Conference Sessions

Call for Sessions!

Do you have a session idea that fits one of these tracks? On behalf of the 2012 conference advisory committee, we’d like to invite you to consider submitting a session proposal. The conference includes 20 breakout sessions, 75 minutes long.  We are interested in highly engaging, interactive sessions. Submission deadline: Friday, June 1st

Conference Sessions will be designed this year around four specific tracks:

1. Collective Action – Creating significant change requires the coordination of ideas, energy and resources from many stakeholders. This track will explore best practices and lessons learned from formal and informal efforts in a variety of issue areas and geographies.

2. Excellence in SVP – The 27 member organizations of the SVP network serve as learning labs of effectiveness in engaged philanthropy. This track will focus on best and emerging practices – along with not-so-successful experiments – in engaged philanthropy organizations.

3. Financing Social Impact – Organizations need money. Growing organizations need more money. Donors want impact. Investors want impact and return, sometimes even a financial one. Where do all these come together? This track will explore new financial and impact-focused models, including: Social Impact Bonds, microfinance, social enterprise, Program- and Mission-Related Investing, credit enhancement, equity and Angel Investors.

4. Innovation in Education – Equipping the next generation for success is a key focus of nearly every SVP network member. With rapidly changing technology and increasingly diverse demographics, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to excel is a challenge. This track highlights successful innovations in the birth-to-career spectrum, including wraparound and out-of-school programs.
