Results and impact

Since 1997, SVP has been building communities of inspired philanthropists – many of whom go on to become influential cross-over leaders and change makers in communities around the world.

A Strong Value Proposition with Measurable Results

The Social Venture Partners model is working and our community is growing.  Today, 2,000 SVP partners are active in 24 cities throughout North America and Japan. And the network is strong: the number of grant recipients as well as dollars and hours invested in nonprofits are all on a steady upward trend, evidence of the health, vitality, and potential of the SVP movement.

Already recognized as an emerging leader in contemporary philanthropy, Social Venture Partners is setting new standards in philanthropy development and receiving high marks from nonprofits for outstanding service and unrestricted financial support.

  • No other grant making organization has learned more about the subject of philanthropic leadership and philanthropy development than Social Venture Partners. Since 1997, we have been building communities of lifelong, informed and inspired philanthropists -- many of whom go on to become influential cross-over leaders.
  • The SVP technology infrastructure is second to none. SVP organizations receive a powerful and customized Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system via Salesforce.com and a platform for browser-based collaboration and information management via Microsoft SharePoint. Affiliates also receive comprehensive services, partner user licenses and customer support.
  • SVP offers a rich variety of unique programs and innovative initiatives while sharing best practices throughout the network. SVP in a Box: A Guide to Strategic Philanthropy, is a step-by-step handbook for establishing a new SVP and is one of many tools designed to meet the needs of new and established affiliates.

“The Social Venture Partner network allows SVP Boulder to share information and philanthropy practices seamlessly with other SVPs and their partners. We enjoy the multiple benefits of cutting edge administrative technology, professional development programs, education events and materials, and grant making tools that we could not possibly afford or readily access on our own. The difference this makes in our work in our own community is incredibly valuable to our own success and makes us a far more effective organization.”

--Dan W. Catlin, Chair, SVP Boulder Executive Committee, SVPI Board Member

  • Network findings and results prove the SVP model is working well. Recent outcomes data from independently-validated surveys indicates that SVP partners are giving more dollars and volunteering more hours in their communities and grant recipients are giving SVP high marks for service and support in the nonprofit sector.
  • And survey data shows that strong, positive relationships exist between and among the staff at SVP affiliates and Social Venture Partners International (SVPI). Dedicated and highly capable people work at each SVP and at SVPI. Together, they maintain a work environment that provides information sharing, professional counsel and mentoring.
  • Social networking, technologies and usage, is taking off and Web 2.0 products are attracting digital immigrants and empowering a highly connected generation. SVP is positioned to be the most successful social network in philanthropy, bar none.
  • Crossover leaders are growing. An increasing number of private sector professionals are interested in pursuing vocations with a social purpose or careers in the nonprofit sector. SVP is a perfect launching point for these individuals.
