Rick Acosta, SVP Denver
Rick Acosta leads Crocus Group, a consulting firm specializing in media and communications. Crocus’ focus is executive management, new media deployment, business development, and on-line marketing research.
Previously, Acosta was vice president for AZN Television and International Networks. AZN Television is a basic channel that provides English-accessible programming for, by, and about Asian Americans. International Networks offers 7x24 in-language television programming to twenty different viewing audiences. Acosta lead strategic planning and business development for this Comcast Cable-owned asset.
Previous positions at International Channel Networks include VP & GM of operations and programming, vice president of business planning, and vice president of Hispanic networks. Acosta joined the company in 2000.
Prior to International Channel Networks, Acosta worked for AT&T Broadband where he was responsible for national sales and marketing programs that offered voice, video and data services to small business accounts. Acosta has more than 20 years experience as a communications professional working in telephony, cable, and direct-to-home satellite industries. Previous positions include executive vice president of network marketing for Convergent Communications and vice president/general manager for Netlink satellite programming.
He is active in the community, including board membership on the Denver Metro Chamber foundation, Social Venture Partners, and the Curious Theatre. Further, Acosta works on the Better Business Bureau’s marketing committee and the Denver Foundation’s media and communications committee.
A struggling musician, Acosta is known as “Dr. Tonic” when he plays bass, says his proficient guitar-playing son, Eli.
Acosta received his MBA from the University of Denver, concentrating in operations research. He also has an undergraduate degree in statistics.
