Mary Bright, Cleveland SVP
Mary Bright is an attorney with 25 years of experience as a business lawyer (mergers/acquisitions/joint ventures, health care policy and health care law, employment law, compensation and benefits, securities and finance). A graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Mary spent most of her career with a Fortune-100 company, followed by three years with a large nonprofit healthcare system. She left the practice of law in late 2001 to focus on volunteer and community activity. Mary joined Cleveland SVP in 2002, has served its board, has led two investee projects and has been involved in partner education. Mary is the immediate past President of Social Venture Partners International, serves on its Fundraising Committee and has been involved in network-wide initiatives such as the affiliate health data project and the restructuring of the network’s governance. She is also on the boards of the Centers for Dialysis Care (serving on both its Nominating and its Strategic Planning Committees) and of New Life Community, a transitional housing program, where she is Chair of the Development Committee and teaches clients about the earned income tax credit. In mid-2003, she founded a pilot micro-enterprise which employed homeless individuals. Mary is the Vice President of Plymouth Church, where she has led a small-group ministry since 2002. She lives in Shaker Heights with her husband Jim and has two adult children.
