Lance Fors, SV2: Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund

Lance Fors received his BA from UC-Berkeley and his PhD from the California Institute of Technology, both in molecular biology.  He then founded and built Third Wave Technologies into a leading public biotechnology company. Since selling Third Wave, Lance has focused on a) venture philanthropy, serving as the long-term Board Chair for Reading Partners, New Teacher Center and SV2, the incoming Board Chair of SVPI, and an advisor to several dozen high-growth nonprofits; b) social entrepreneurship, founding and building a leading provider of housing for disabled individuals; and c) field-building, helping connect-the-dots and drive initiatives to increase the human and financial capital for and awareness of our highest -impact nonprofits. Lance is also lead director and co-owner of Lance Construction Supplies, an inventor on dozens of patents, an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award recipient, a former CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for four foster youth and an avid tennis player and swimmer.
